The following are some of the upcoming local, and a few non-local, events which the Amnesty International Leeds group is involved in. 2012

So begins a new year of campaigning. At the moment we are planning all the events for 2012 so to get an impression of what we do please see past events to the right. We are proud of the work we are involved in and organise around Leeds and are keen to continue fund-raising events to raise awareness and donations towards current Amnesty International campaigns. As soon as we get some definite dates and details, we will get them up on the website.

In the meantime let me take this opportunity to thank all those people who contributed to making 2011 such a successful year and wish all those people around the world who in one way or another will be campaigning for Human Rights our best wishes.

The following are some past events that the group has been involved in.

Bradford Music Club - Rawdon Amnesty Series

This is your opportunity to experience the talent and enthusiasm of the Bradford Music Club, who have made it a tradition to share their last meeting of the year in aid of Amnesty. Come and listen, and next year you might be performing.

Letterfest: Write for Rights

We will once again be writing letters to those in power to hold them to account on the cases in the Greeting Cards Campaign. All information will be provided and all you need to bring is your good will but any additional non-religious cards are always appreciated.

St Aidan’s in Concert - Rawdon Amnesty Series

The chamber choir of St Aidan’s C of E High School in Harrogate won the BBC Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year competition in 2006, and has reached the finals 6 times. We are thrilled to welcome members of this young choir along with musicians from the school’s symphony orchestra.

Two Wartime Classics on Remembrance - Rawdon Amnesty Series 2011

David Robertson of Theatre of the Dales and Maggie Mash of Trio Literati will read from 84, Charing Cross Road, and actors from the Royal Armouries will perform Only Water Between, Peter Spafford’s moving adaptation of letters and memoirs from World War One. Layout image
